about Caelen
Caelen works and lives in the beautiful mountains of Steamboat Springs, CO. With over a decade of experience in the field of mental health, Caelen now focuses primarily on working with couples in her private practice, serving couples in person in Steamboat, virtually all over the state of Colorado, and has also worked internationally. She has a BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a Master’s degree from Naropa University in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Clinical Counseling. While her career started in the field of addiction and recovery, Caelen came to couples work through her own experience of working to improve her marriage through the introduction of children, loss of family members, and general life stressors. For her, it was life-changing.
Caelen completed levels 1-3 of PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy) with Stan Tatkin, PsyD, the owner and creator of the PACT Institute. She continues to be involved with the PACT Institute through coaching Level 1 and 2 training and consult groups with Dr. Tatkin and colleagues. She is currently in a 2-year certification process for Relational Life Therapy with Terry Real and is integrating these two modalities into her practice.
Caelen believes in understanding not only the “how” but also the “why” behind couples' work. She has trained with experts in neuroscience and neurobiology and is continuously self-studying. Her sessions combine attachment and brain science with experiential work to help couples deeply understand what they are doing and WHY so as to create lasting change.
Caelen is considered an expert in the field and is sought out for public speaking events and guest lecturing on topics of attachment and relationships. She was a finalist in “Best of the Boat” for Mental Health Counselor in the Yampa Valley. Outside of therapy, Caelen enjoys the outdoors through biking, skiing, hiking, and camping with her husband, Kevin, and two daughters, Lyra and Bowie.
